Clontarf – Lansdowne – Mud Sweat and Mudmen

The weather has been poor to say the least and the main pitch in castle avenue has been in  a bad state.

Both team were intent on playing but Clontarf during the first half confiscated the ball and pushed Lansdowne defence into making faults. Lansdowne towards the end of the half managed to get a bit of possession and scored a penalty from rather far out.

Half time score 9 -3

The second half saw Lansdowne followed up on the late first half form  for a while before Clontarf took the control back. A penalty was all the rewards the hosts could get; before a late  fightback from Lansdowne saw their hopes of a losing bonus point dashed as the kick strayed.

Final score 12 -3

J1 Clontarf Lansdowne

The game started with a minute silence and a my thoughts go to Mr Foley’s Family and friends.

A come back to remember.

Lansdowne conceded the first penalty of the game but after that the game looked like there was one team in it and Lansdowne were that team.

After  the half time break there was more of the same and Lansdowne lead 30 -6. The home side were putting pressure without finding gaps  however Lansdowne were penalised often for offside. as it goes they were too often ofside and a  yellow was produced. After that the game changed and Clontarf began  their come back. It was thrilling and the pressure on Lansdowne was telling.

Both Team produced some thrilling rugby and it ended all square 33 -33 with a last penalty for ‘tarf at the end.
